You could do this with no advice and be fine. Overall, you should have a relatively smooth commute. If you don’t, it’s okay to look at folks and apologize that you don’t have anything, rather than just ignoring them.

If you do have any cash and someone’s asking for it, feel free to share a couple dollars. That being said, my same advice goes, mind your business and you’ll be fine. Especially in the winter you will be on the train with homeless community members- it’s harder to navigate being homeless in chicago than California since it’s so much colder here, and the train is one of the few places folks can be for extended periods of time to warm up. People on here talk about the red line like it’s a cesspool of chaos, but 9 times out of 10 you’ll have a very boring commute. When you’re on the train honestly just mind your own business and you’ll be fine. Wrigley is just a block away from addison so you won’t have to walk far once you’re off the train. It’s not too far of a commute, and it’s a pretty straight shot.
